I make art from paper waste. As a child, my grandmother, who went to California College of Arts and Crafts in 1937-38, helped facilitate my first art experiences and it would be these same early projects and materials that I would choose to continue to work with as an adult. Through hand built and cast forms, it is my objective to transform paper into objects that may then convey a narrative. By placement and assembly, much like playing with wooden blocks as a child, I seek to create compositions that fortify a feeling or help bridge my subconscious into a physical form. At its core, my work responds to the wasteful nature of society. By repurposing what is often discarded, I explore themes of transformation, memory, and value. My practice challenges perceptions of permanence and invites a reconsideration of the overlooked.
